20 Years of War & Heartache
Over the past 20 years there has been much need for support in Uganda. Joseph Kony has been kidnapping children throughout Northern Ugandan and forcing them to fight in his rebel army (the Lords Resistance Army, or LRA). Children to young to know anything about the world around them have been forced to kill their very own parents. This war, as you can guess, has left Northern Uganda very tattered. Invisible Children is an amazing group out to spread awareness and bring support for Northern Uganda. Wellspring Church in Berlin, CT has been sending teams of people to Kampala, Uganda for 4 years to volunteer at Kampala Children's Centre, and the surrounding community of Wakiso. Last year my fiance (now wife) and I decided that it was our turn to go over to Uganda. We have both been led to that country for years now and were given the amazing opportunity to go, so we took it. I worked on a construction team building a jungle gym for the 100 children currenlty residing at Kampala Children's Centre, and my wife worked at a day camp for children both from the centre and the surrounding community. The experiences we had were life changing and eye opening. We are currently preparing to go back over in two weeks for another missions trip and also our honey moon.
